All through 2024, we will refresh the Public Energy Displaying Framework (NEMS), the coordinated energy-economy demonstrating framework we use to deliver our AEO. We will be able to better analyze the US energy system’s future with the help of three brand-new modules in NEMS. These new modules are:
The Carbon Capture, Allocation, Transportation, and Sequestration Module, which will allocate the projected supply of captured CO2 across the energy system to utilization or storage The Hydrocarbon Supply Module, which will improve the representation of upstream oil and natural gas resources, replacing the previous NEMS Oil and Gas Supply Module We are also enhancing our capacity to model the energy systems of the future by bringing these new modules online. The Hydrogen Market Module will represent hydrogen production and pricing, including the effects of policy, storage, and logistics. The Hydrocarbon We will be able to improve our modeling and create a zero-carbon electric power sector:
Distributed generation and combined heat-and-power technology for electric vehicles (EVs) Battery storage in buildings Industrial heat pumps Recycling in the plastics industry
Tending to existing and impending regulations and guidelines (counting refreshed Corporate Normal Efficiency principles)
Representing substantial vehicle ICE (gas powered motor) boycotts
Progressively transitioning away from clean energy tax breaks
Refreshing structure end-use norms and ENERGY STAR specifications
